Funding
Our income is mainly from ‘planned giving’ through regular contributions. It mainly comes from our congregations, with a small amount from fees for weddings and funerals. We get no income from the government or from the Diocese or the church nationally,
We use this income to pay the running costs of our church and to pay our Parish Share – this is the annual amount we pay to Liverpool Diocese. This is used to pay for the clergy in the diocese and is based on the principle that those churches in more affluent areas help those in less advantaged neighbourhoods. In 2020 the Parish Share for Christ Church was just under £75,000.
There are different ways that you can contribute financially to Christ Church:
• Some people are members of the Parish Giving Scheme, or contribute by standing order, where they give a set amount of their choice per month, directly from their bank accounts.
• Other people give a set amount of their choice per week, via the envelopes they put in the collection.
• Some people prefer to put cash in the collection plate when they attend a service. If you could put your cash in one of the white gift-aid envelopes before putting it in the collection plate, that would help us greatly.
• Some people leave legacies. We have benefited from several legacies recently either left in wills or given in memory of loved ones. We use this money to finance special projects, not to pay the Parish Share.
However and whatever you give, if you are a tax payer then contributing via gift aid allows us to claim the tax back on your contributions and gives us vital extra income, at no extra cost to you.
Please consider if you can give regularly or if you could leave a legacy (details below)

Legacy Policy
At Christ Church Padgate we welcome all gifts in wills, however large or small, and we promise to use your gift to make a difference in our parish.
Our PCC Legacy Policy is to use gifts to help fund significant development projects, whether buildings, equipment or staff. Since needs change over the years, we encourage you to leave a gift in your will for the general purposes of the parish rather than for a restricted purpose. We will discuss possible uses of your gift with your executors when the time comes, bearing in mind your known areas of interest in the church (e.g. music, buildings, children and youth, overseas mission or aid) and the church’s priorities at the time.
You can be confident that your gift will be used to make a real difference to our future mission and ministry. We will acknowledge gifts in whatever way the donor and/or his/her executors feel most appropriate. Equally, we can make sure that gifts remain anonymous if the donor prefers.
If you would like to talk to someone in confidence about leaving a legacy to Christ Church, the sorts of purposes your gift might fund, and how/if you would like your gift to be acknowledged, please contact Revd. Simon. If you would like to make a gift to our church in memoriam, please come and discuss this with us too. It can be a wonderful and appropriate way to remember a loved one.
Please note that we strongly advise you to seek professional advice and to see a solicitor when making or revising your will.

Council
The PCC stands for Parochial Church Council.
The PCC is the key decision making body of the parish, responsible for our mission and faith journey, our finances and for the church building and its grounds. It is the place where we plan and discuss the future direction and vision for the Church. Our PCC meets every two months. The Rector, Churchwardens and Representatives on the Deanery Synod, plus up to fifteen elected members, sit on the PCC. We have several sub-committees which meet separately, which PCC members can join if they wish.
Elected members are chosen for a three-year term at the Annual Church Meeting. To be eligible to serve on the PCC, you must be on the Electoral Roll. We have vacancies every year, so if you are interested in being involved in how Christ Church is run, please contact Revd. Simon.

Parish Registers
Registers of baptisms, weddings and burials are maintained and kept in Church. Wedding records are sent to the Warrington Register Office. If you would like information regarding any of the registers please contact hello@churchcollective.uk.
Also, the following website contains the burial records up to 1923 which may be of interest: https://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Warrington/christchurch/index.html
